Curb: A Collection of Plantar Tarsal Soft Tissue Injuries

چکیده

Curb is a collection of plantar tarsal soft tissue injuries and not simply long plantar desmitis as has been previously supposed. In fact, only 30% of horses in this study had injury of the long plantar ligament (LPL). Horses with curb are more likely to have swelling and injury of peritendinous and periligamentous tissue and/or superficial digital flexor tendonitis than injury of the LPL. Careful ultrasonographic evaluation is critical in establishing a correct diagnosis and management plan. While curb is primarily an injury of racehorses, and most commonly the Standardbred racehorse, it does occur in non-racehorse sport horses. Osteotomy of the calcaneus and concomitant plantar stripping in children with talipes cavo-varus.

Cavo-varus deformity of the foot secondary to poliomyelitis, congenital club foot or other diseases is a rather complex deformity caused by imbalance of intrinsic and extrinsic muscles of the foot. Correction by tarsal reconstruction with or without soft-tissue procedures is the accepted form of treatment. However, in children too young for tarsal reconstruction the problem remains, because the...

Magnetic resonance imaging of plantar soft tissue structures of the tarsus and proximal metatarsus in foals and adult horses.

OBJECTIVES The object of this study was to describe previously defined soft tissue structures by using spin and gradient sequences in a 0.5 Tesla magnetic resonance system in order to improve the characterisation of tendon and ligaments at the plantar region of the equine tarsus and metatarsus while considering possible age-related variations. METHODS Cadaveric hindlimbs from twenty-two Warmb...
